Ingredients:
400g pasta (penne, fusilli, or any shape you prefer)
6 good-quality sausages (pork, chicken, or vegetarian)
2 tablespoons THC Infused olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (400g) plum tomatoes, crushed or diced
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 teaspoons dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
For the Stale Bread Topping:
2 cups stale bread crumbs (preferably crusty bread)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Step 1:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400F (200C).
Step 2 - Cook the Pasta:
Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 3 - Prepare the Sausages:
Remove the casings from the sausages and break the meat into small pieces.
Step 4 - Cook the Sausage:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage meat and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet and set aside.
Step 5 - Prepare the Sauce:
In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if needed. Sauté the onion and garlic until softened and aromatic.
Step 6 - Add Tomatoes and Seasoning:
Add the crushed plum tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Step 7 - Combine Pasta and Sauce:
Add the cooked pasta and cooked sausage to the skillet with the sauce and half of the cheese. Mix well to combine everything evenly.
Step 8 - Transfer to Baking Dish:
Transfer the sausage and pasta mixture to a large baking dish.
Step 9 - Prepare the Stale Bread Topping:
In a separate bowl, combine the stale bread crumbs, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until the bread crumbs are coated evenly with the oil and seasonings.
Step 10 - Top with Bread Crumbs:
Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture evenly over the sausage and pasta mixture in the baking dish.
Step 11 - Add Cheddar Cheese:
Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese evenly over the bread crumb layer.
Step 12 - Bake:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread crumbs are golden and crispy.
Step 13 - Serve:
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your delicious sausage pasta bake with crispy stale bread topping and melted cheddar cheese!
